En este simposio conversaremos con figuras influyentes del Ecuador que han contribuido significativamente a la nación. Los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de escuchar sus historias de vida, obtener perspectivas valiosas y aprender lecciones cruciales para el futuro desarrollo del Ecuador.
Discutiremos esferas importantes del Ecuador, como la equidad de género, la educación, la salud, el gobierno y los negocios. Al entablar un diálogo con los expositores invitados, exploraremos cómo los jóvenes pueden contribuir a mejorar la democracia de Ecuador, fomentar relaciones globales más sólidas y crear una sociedad más equitativa.

Michel Deller
Michel Deller is a businessman from Quito - Ecuador and owner of the Independiente del Valle, one of the largest soccer teams in the country.
He entered the real estate sector through the firm DK Management Services, overseeing the Quicentro and San Luis shopping centers in Quito. As the owner and president of the Independiente del Valle team, he has established himself as the main facilitator and exporter of Ecuadorian soccer players to different countries around the world. After that, he became involved with the Ecuadorian Football Federation.
Fernando Rivera
Fernando Rivera is a Managing Partner at BuenTrip Ventures, a pre-seed VC fund based in Quito, Ecuador, where he brings technology and operational background, having co-founded ETF.com as CTO.
BuenTrip Ventures grew out of the work of BuenTrip Hub, a leading community and ecosystem builder in South America.
Fernando graduated from Pomona College with a major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. Fernando is motivated by a deeply rooted belief in the potential of Latin American entrepreneurs to positively affect the future of Latin America through technology, a vision that has driven his 20+ year career as an entrepreneur.
Juan Pablo Cuesta
Juan Pablo Cuesta, actual Comisionado de Comercio de Ecuador en Nueva York, cuenta con una sólida trayectoria en instituciones como el Fondo Monetario Internacional, el Banco Mundial y el Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo. Graduado en Economía por la Universidad Santa María y con una maestría en Administración Pública enfocada en Desarrollo Internacional y Crecimiento Económico de la Universidad de Syracuse, ha destacado como Asistente de Investigación en el FMI y Consultor en el Banco Mundial.
Su experiencia incluye roles estratégicos en el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores de Ecuador y colaboraciones con S.Cuesta & Asociados. Con una sólida comprensión de políticas económicas y marcos institucionales, está preparado para liderar iniciativas significativas en el ámbito del comercio internacional para Ecuador.
Bernardo Sandoval
Dr. Sandoval is one of the most renowned and respected surgeons in the field. He specialized in General Surgery, Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, and Oncological Surgery at three of the most important institutions in the United States: Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and Case Western Reserve University.
He has served in various leadership positions, such as Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the International University of Ecuador and the University of the Americas. He has also obtained the titles of Professor of General and Thoracic Surgery, Ethics, Bioethics and Law, and History of Medicine.
Currently, Dr. Sandoval serves as the medical director of the Hospital Metropolitano, one of the largest and most renowned private hospitals in Ecuador.
Ana María Vásquez
Dr. Vasquez, an Ecuadorian Ophthalmologist, is the owner and director of the Instituto de Oftalmología y Glaucoma Vasquez. She earned her medical degree from the Universidad de Cuenca and completed her Glaucoma Fellowship at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, FL.
With a distinguished career, she has held numerous leadership roles, including President of the Glaucoma Ecuadorian Society and Vice-President of the Latin American Glaucoma Society. Presently, she serves as a Member of the Patient Committee at the World Glaucoma Association (WGA).
Dr. Vasquez has contributed extensively to the field through peer-reviewed publications and has been instrumental in organizing and coordinating the World Glaucoma Week in Ecuador. Currently, she works at the WGA, organizing this global public health initiative.
Carlos Montúfar
Carlos Montufar is an Ecuadorian physicist who has dedicated his life to education. He is the co-founder and current President of the Council of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), one of the most renowned universities in Ecuador.
He studied, both undergraduate and graduate, at the University of Notre Dame, where he obtained a Ph.D. in Physics. He also obtained a postdoctoral degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Montufar believed in Liberal Arts as an educational philosophy when he founded USFQ. In 1995 Dr. Montufar was also one of the founders of the Colegio Menor San Francisco de Quito, which is one of the most renowned schools in the country.
He firmly believes that education is fundamental for development and is transcendental for the future of Ecuador.
Joaquín Hernández
Joaquín Hernández is a highly accomplished philosopher, holding Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral degrees in Philosophy. With a rich background in academia, he has served as a Professor in the faculties of Jurisprudence and Philosophy at various educational institutions.
Since 2015, he has been an editorialist for the "Expreso" newspaper in Guayaquil, one of the largest newspapers in the country.
At Universidad Espíritu Santo (UEES) de Guayaquil, he has held diverse roles, including Executive Vice Chancellor of Postgraduate Studies and Rector. His academic contributions extend globally, as he has taught courses ranging from Introduction to Economics to Modern Philosophy at institutions like the Central American University José Simeón Cañas in San Salvador, the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador in Quito, and the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru in Lima.
Additionally, he has pursued advanced studies in Strategic Thinking and Prospective Higher Education in Ecuador and holds a Master's degree in Contemporary Latin American Philosophy.
Leticia Tituaña
Leticia Tituaña is an indigenous woman from the Kichwa-Otavalo community of Ecuador. She obtained her Chemical Engineer title from the Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL).
Leticia Tituaña is the founder and past-director of Warmi STEM, co-founder of the Kichwa Institute of Science, Technology and Humanities - KISTH, Finalist for the Ibero-American Social Leadership Award 2022, Future Rising Fellow 2021-2022 and One Young World Ambassador 2021.
WARMI STEM seeks to encourage, guide and help more Kichwa women who are or are on their way to being part of some discipline of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Her mission is to contribute to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda, quality education, and gender equality through her work to increase the percentage of indigenous women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - STEM careers.
Sydney Males
Sydney Males is a Kichwa-Otavalo activist committed to racial and climate justice and human rights, with an outstanding career in academic research, territorial activism, and community leadership.
With a master's degree in FLACSO and experience in the Kichwa Cabildo of Otavalo, she has worked on environmental projects and participated in international bodies such as the United Nations Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
Sydney Males is the founder of the Wallpay Crew Collective. She has promoted WYMUN and public policies in the face of the climate emergency.
Currently, she collaborates with the Hakhu Amazonia Foundation and other organizations in the fight for indigenous liberation and the defense of the environment, actively participating in events such as COP27 and Climate Week in New York.
Beatriz Almeida de Stein
Ms. Stein is in charge of the representation activities of the Government of Ecuador in her capacity as Consul General of Ecuador for the states of Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine since 2002.
Under her direction, the consulate has facilitated the creation of exchange and collaboration programs between universities in Boston and Ecuador. Giving special emphasis to the areas of technology and innovation alongside MIT, Harvard, Boston University, and Boston College.
Beatriz has led the organization of several cultural, humanitarian and social programs in close coordination with federal and state government agencies and institutions in favor of Ecuador and Latin America. These activities have earned her several recognitions including: Humanitarian Ambassador 2011, Fundación Ritmo Guanaco; Mayor’s Recognition 2006, Mayor of Boston; Member of the Board of Directors 2015, New England Colombian Association (NEACOL).
José de la Gasca
José De la Gasca is a multidisciplinary professional with a solid academic background in social and legal sciences.
He has bachelor's degrees and specializations in various areas, including Social and Political Sciences, Criminal Law, Criminalistics and Forensic Sciences, as well as Anti-Corruption and Diplomacy. His experience includes roles as a university professor, practicing lawyer and legislative consultant, highlighting his contribution to the development of the Comprehensive Organic Penal Code (COIP).
He currently serves as Ecuador's ambassador to the United Nations.
Inés Manzano
Inés Manzano is an Ecuadorian lawyer with a distinguished career in environmental law and sustainability. She graduated in 1997 from the Catholic University of Santiago de Guayaquil and later specialized in environmental law, working with former Mayor of Guayaquil, Leon Febres-Cordero.
She has held important positions in the Ministry of Environment and has been a pioneer in creating environmental legislation in Ecuador. She founded the first environmental legal department in a law firm in the country and has served as an advisor to companies and political leaders.
She has also been an activist on environmental issues, co-founding NGOs and has received recognition for her work, including an award from the Bar Association for her contribution to national legislation. Her commitment to sustainability extends through her involvement in entrepreneurship and political leadership initiatives, as well as in promoting sustainable cities.
